Welcome!!!

I am Seth Howard, a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. For those of you who may not know who I am I will give you a brief history (emphasis on brief) on my whereabouts and what I am doing. However, if you do know me please bear with me.
In April of 1998 I went to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego, California for 3 months of boot camp. Upon graduation I reported to Marine Combat Training for 2 weeks of combat training before spending 4 more weeks at Marine Aircraft Group - 13 (MAG-13) before reporting to NAS Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida for Aviation Mechanic’s school. Upon graduation I was ordered to NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida for power plant’s school on F/A-18 aircraft. After graduation on Christmas day 1998 I reported to MAG-31, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort in Beaufort, South Carolina.
In January of 1999, I reported in to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron - 122 (VMFA-122). Since becoming a ‘Crusader’ (VMFA-122’s nickname) I went on deployments to El Centro, California and Yuma, Arizona; before we left for a six month overseas deployment, in July 2000, to Japan and the Western Pacific. While there we were based out of Iwakuni, Japan; but we made deployments to RAAF Tindal, Australia; Kadena AB, Okinawa; and Misawa AB, Japan. While on the move deploying to Japan, the various places that we deployed to during the westpac, and while returning to the states, we made stops in Dallas, Texas; MCAS Miramar, San Diego, California; Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii; Wake Island, USA; and Guam, USA. During the six month overseas deployment we traveled to Iwo Jima on a day trip and also during the deployment I was able to visit Peace Park in Hiroshima, Japan and the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After returning to Beaufort, South Carolina we settled in for a couple of months before deploying to Key West, Florida during the month of May. In August of 2001 we deployed to Yuma, Arizona; upon returning to Beaufort I transferred to VMFA-251. On the 19th of September, VMFA-251 left for a six month cruise aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
By the middle of October we were operating in the Arabian Sea, off of the coast of Pakistan. Our mission was to support Operation Enduring Freedom and the war on terrorism in Alfghanistan. We stayed on station until the end of February when we entered the Persian Gulf to port in Bahrain for 4 days. After our port we returned to the Arabian Sea to continue our support of OEF for about a week before leaving the area for good to return home. In the middle of March we made our second and final port call for the cruise, in Marseille, France. We returned to the good ole’ US of A on the 29th of March, 2002. In August we deployed to Yuma, Arizona for 3 weeks of air-to-ground training.
On the 3rd of October, 2002 while home on leave I asked Zoë Haapala to be my wife. Thankfully she said yes! Because of my commitments to the Marine Corps we are looking at a mid-December wedding.

The flag raising on Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima, Febuary 23, 1945 is the single most reproduced war photo in history.

Please feel free to me!
